With over 300 days of sunshine a year, visitors can golf, mountain bike, jog, hike, camp, horseback ride, swim, boat or explore the Superstition Mountain wilderness along the historic Apache Trail. You’ll see breathtaking canyons and mountain vistas, towering saguaro cacti, desert wildflowers in the spring, and wildlife of all kinds.

With over a dozen GOLF courses to choose from in the area, visitors can play golf at some of the top-rated public courses in Arizona. Gold Canyon, Superstition Mountain, and the City of Apache Junction are home to some of Arizona’s premier golf courses for the ultimate golfing experience.

Whether you ride the trails on a mountain bike or the paths along the streets, Arizona is a bike-friendly community and welcomes riders of all skill levels. The East Valley is full of BIKING opportunities and we welcome you to visit the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce for maps of all the popular biking spots.

HIKERS AND RUNNERS come from all over the country to experience the abundance of trails in and around the Superstition and Usery Mountains. With nearly 10 miles of trails, Lost Dutchman State Park is a great family-fun spot; spend the day or CAMP overnight in their 134-space campground. Apache Junction is host to the Lost Dutchman Marathon each February, where runners enjoy the beauty of the countryside and the streets of the community along their run. LDM has been voted one of the top ten small marathons in the country.

In addition to our mountain activities, the City of Apache Junction boasts one of the best rated PARKS AND RECREATION Departments in Arizona. With a full schedule of activities for adults and children, the department oversees Prospector Park, Flatiron Community Park, Complex Park, Veterans’ Memorial Park, Little League Complex, Silly Mountain Park, Superstition Shadows Aquatic Center, Apache Junction Skate Park, and Rodeo Park Event Center.

Complete your outdoor wilderness experience with a horseback camp-out complete with breakfast and dinner cookouts. Bring your horse out to one of the many equestrian trails or call one of our local stables such as, OK Corral or Superstition Trail Rides, to book a HORSEBACK RIDING trip.

CANYON AND SAGUARO LAKES are just two of many lakes formed by damming sections of the Salt River. They are only minutes away from Apache Junction and Gold Canyon and offer all forms of water sports – boating, swimming, fishing, sailing, skiing and even a scenic boat tour on either the Dolly Steamboat or Desert Belle.
