Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce is looking for a qualified intern to join our chamber and visitor center team. Our chamber/visitor center department works with local businesses that are chamber members in Apache Junction and surrounding areas, to grow and strengthen the local economy. 

This intern should be prepared to work in a fun but fast-paced team environment and will finish the internship having gained broad experience in various aspects of chamber/visitor center operations.

As an intern for the Chief Executive Officer you will have an opportunity to be mentored by the President and CEO of a regional Chamber, familiarizing oneself with the structure, goals, and strategic mission of the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce. You will be involved in the research, analysis, and implementation of the various programs and activities the organization is involved in and will assist Chamber staff in providing networking events, education programs, and communications for members and the community.  As an intern for the Director of Communications and Events for the Apache Junction Chamber of Commerce you will have the opportunity to develop an expansive network of contacts in order to plan, coordinate and execute both small and large scale events for our members and our community. You will be help with the development and implementation of marketing and public relations plans and materials as well as the  maintenance of the Chamber’s website and social media channels to deliver the organization’s messages to the public and the media. You will get hands-on experience writing press releases, generating electronic newsletters, email blasts, photography, social media, & graphic arts.  As an intern for the Business Development Manager you will get in-field tactical sales training and aid in the generation of sales leads to promote the overall growth of the organization.

You will particpate in corporate relationship building and will have the opportunity to work independently to implement territory management, tracking, and the relaying of information gathered to Chamber staff.

As an intern for the Office Manager, you will recieve one-on-one training on how to maintain an organization’s financial records and proprietary databases while learning how to devise reports, respond to audits, and ensure all City and State regulations are being followed. You will help to oversee the Visitor Center’s volunteers, materials, and renovations.

  • Providing research and comparison information regarding local, state and federal legislation
  • Providing data to the Chamber about current important business issues and what positions the state and US Chambers have taken
  • Participating in public policy and government affairs activities
  • Assisting the Chamber’s East Valley Chamber of Commerce Alliance
  • Drafting letters, emails, & other documents with provided content for the Chamber’s annual events
  • Designing invitations, posters, & brochures
  • Event planning & organization
  • Set-up, registration, & clean-up on event days
  • Post-event follow up
  • Creating social media posts with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and more
  • Assisting with the development of the monthly e-newsletter
  • Writing articles and press releases for the local newspapers and magazines
  • Website maintenance and improvement 
  • Entering prospects and new sales into the Chamber databases
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Putting together spreadsheets
  • Speaking with Chamber members and answering any questions they might have
  • Researching various businesses and their contacts
  • Other duties as assigned include attending and helping out with Chamber-related events when possible, running various errands with prospective and current Chamber members
  • Assisting the volunteers with stocking, organizing, and front desk duties
